Immigrant Health Insurance
Welcome to the United States! As you may have already noticed, health care is a major concern for most Americans. To ensure that individuals are protected from catastrophic health expenses, immigrant medical insurance is often a smart purchase. While most Americans get medical coverage through their employer, that may not be an option for recent immigrants—especially those who are self-employed, between jobs, or already retired.
With the Affordable Care Act (ACA), immigrants in some states will find it easier to purchase compliant health insurance plans. In other states, it may be more difficult. Ask us whether standard U.S.-based plans are available in your area—otherwise, there are private options to consider.
We are currently evaluating immigrant-specific health plans and looking for a program that truly serves this population well. In the meantime, we recommend reviewing the options available on our International Health Insurance page.
